History gauging!

So this fine fellow is a historian! This means he will probably recognize those famous faces from time long past. In addition some of said historical figures might or might not factor into the Templar/Assassin war going on, so let's all introduce each other!

IDK if Japanese people would ping him, but I have 2 x dead samurai. Mori Motonari (this one) and Sanada Yukimura (oyakatasama)! Also Motonari was hired on as a camp historian too so they should totally touch base anyway!

ETA - I should also mention that Yukimura is only... vaguely historical, and is very misplaced in time when it comes to history and his canon. Motonari is more historical, but everything that he talks about happening to him, he was likely historically dead for anyway :|a

Yeah you see, I'm pretty sure that still breaks a rule or two about undue torment towards your fellow Assassin. Possibly right before "Don't let the bitter one-armed man teach the recruits".

His main field of expertise seems to be European (and possibly Nordic) history, but I think he'd be at least passably familiar with Japanese history. So the time issues might not be readily apparent.

As for the player... Uh, I'll need to refresh my Japanese history since I'm amazingly rusty.

This is the only one of mine who applies. He has, however, made a few changes in his looks over the last century or so (most notable, getting rid of his profuse facial hair).

Yeah you've heard the rundown from Ezio, but Shaun's going to act slightly different and just be wary for the moment. Not hostile since this is young Cesare and he doesn't want to go around mucking up the timeline just yet, but he's going to be keeping an eye on him.

And not just because he's fascinated with the time period. really.

Cesare's age in this canon is giving him a pretty sweet pass in Camp. HE MIGHT NOT BE A DICK YET LET'S NOT PUSH HIM OVER THE EDGE. Also it is convenient for me.

And it is a great time period to be fascinated by. Thumbs up.

Monteriggioni! Or rather, under Monteriggioni. It's sorta complicated.

And yeah. Shaun seems to use a lot of visual references to end up making connections to things, so in ac2 he's got this setup for himself, and this in Brotherhood.

And yeah, this series is so much eye candy, seriously. I'm even fine with the slightly more complicated controls for pc just for the graphics boost.

... Sliiiiding in here to say that a lot of historians don't specialize in other fields. I was talking to a medievalist about the modern period (WWII), even as it RELATED to the medieval period, and even in the same area (Jewish European culture), and he admitted that he didn't know it as well as he should. You can get a pass on this one!

AWESOME. Yeah my Japanese history outside of a smattering of the Edo period and Meiji restoration is painfully underdeveloped.

Yeaaaaah. I USED TO FEEL EMBARRASSED BY HOW LITTLE I KNEW. That was in an interview for grad school that the dude did that (and I think he felt a little embarrassed because I knew about it). Basically, in undergrad, you're forced to take maybe two courses outside your field ... and the rest is in your field. Even then! And by time you're in Ph.D., you're not expected to remember it.

So, you could easily have him be "oh, yeah, I ... took a class ... a long time ago in that," and no one could fault you because that's actually accurate!
