Higurashi aftermath

[IN OUR LAST EPISODE Shaun and Cesare had a little trip down to the labs, if by "trip" we mean "a magical adventure full of torture-filled antics". Needless to say there's one historian laid up in a hospital bed, more or less asleep and bandaged like you wouldn't believe.]

[Still sleeping, thank god and- damn, he seriously looks worse for wear, let's say that.]

*taking a seat in the chair left there for visitors after a moment's hesitation, clearly not sure if he should be here or not*

[making a soft, thankfully free-of-terrible-agony sound in his sleep, rustling the covers a bit]

*drumming one hand on the objects in his lap--a small bundle and a worn book*

[There's signs that he might just be waking up, the occasional twitch of the fingers, his breathing becoming less even...]

*clears his throat, wanting to give Shaun some indication that there's someone else in the room*

[groggily fishing for his glasses as he wakes up]

Mm? Tony is that you again? Thought I told you to get some sleep-

[...and gets them on]

[-And BACKS THE FUCK UP, wide-eyed and pressed hard against the back of the bed, the heart rate monitor starting to climb.]

*hands up! glance at that, uh, well, it's recording how fast his heart is going, right?*

Shaun. Are you all right?

[sharpasafawkes]

[UTTER PANIC HERE as he just keeps trying to somehow claw himself even further away from Cesare, without getting off of the bed.]

No no no no no oh god please no...

*flicker of something but he pushes it away, pulling on that façade of control even though it means sitting more stiffly and putting on a more formal expression.*

I came here to give you something.

[Fuck it, the nurses can yell at him later.

Utterly, gracelessly, half-falling out of that bed and ripping those sensors off with one hand using the other to grab hold of the IV stand and taking that with him as he backs into the nearest corner]

Whatever I did, I'm sorry, I'm sorry all right!? Please just leave me alone.

*very, very still*

[Ever seen a grown historian shake and try and make himself as small as possible? Now you have.]

*hesitates for a moment, then quietly walks over to the bed and places the items at the foot*

[Not even moving from his spot]

*leaving, not looking over at him to see if there is a reaction*

[DAYS LATER EXCEXC]

[maleborgia]

*guess who hasn't been back since that first wonderfully successful visit? knocks on the doorframe as he enters the room, stopping just within it*

Shaun? Are you awake?

[SOUNDS OF MOMENTARY FREAKOUT, then]

R-right um, come in.

*does so, but not by very much, leaning against the wall just a bit closer to the bed*

How are you feeling?

[sharpasafawkes]

Oh, well they say that they'll be able to try a skin graft soon, been keeping on the topical and a bit of painkillers until they can do it though. There's... well it'll be an improvement, though they haven't had much luck with some other things.
