[It's getting late, you're probably out (but hey, some of you could be safe and warm at home), and aside from the crazy people out, it's pretty much business as normal.

Which means it can be pretty easy to miss the sound of someone else around, or the footsteps that trail off and then come again]

[At least this time, the guy in the bed doesn't totally freak out when Cesare steps into the room?

His breath catches a little, maybe. But then he nods.]

It's not your fault, really. I wanted to make sure he wasn't going to be a danger. And...honestly, I still wasn't entirely sure you weren't one. To him.

[taking a seat in a chair left next to the bed] I misjudged the situation. I thought you would have had more time.

I...made him suspicious, I guess. He was trying to persuade me that you were going to going to go to people we knew for help - like Alvis - and when they turned you down...I kept insisting that I'd go and check up on people alone. Probably not the best tactic, but if we had found you, other people might have been put in harm's way.

He guessed Alvis? He wasn't wrong. Well, not really. I wasn't there very long at a time, but I was there.

Well, he's smart. I'm sure the connection wasn't hard to make.

If it ever happens again, let him go. I was prepared for the possibility that he would show up.

[a beat, looking down at his hands before turning back to Felix]

Harley wanted to kill him before he acted on his fear. I convinced her not to.

Would it have changed anything?

Of course it would have. I don't know if it would have made it better or worse. On the one hand it might have snapped him back to his senses, but on the other it might just have broken him further.

...Well, I don't blame you for that, either. Not wanting someone to die unnecessarily...that's not a bad thing.

[maleborgia]

[just nods]

Try not to be too upset with him. He will be horrified about all of this, I assure you.

[sighing]

No, I'm...sure he will be. I know that it wasn't...that's not him, those weren't really...his actions.

I'm not....upset isn't the right word.

I'm going to go find him. I need to get back down there before he comes to. Hopefully he will have snapped out of it by now. Either way, don't worry. You're perfectly safe here. I'll deal with Shaun one way or another and I had to get past four guards to see you, only two of whom are human.

[There's a certain way his features twist for a moment at 'perfectly safe' because MAN he does not feel like it.
