The right answer is, it's a TV show. We have writers who sniff glue, and the victim of the week sometimes actually dies because weird shit is attracted to me and it always goes for the fucking extras first, but the cast and crew are all perfectly normal humans, aside from yours truly.

You still haven't let me get a look at your wrists.

Yes, there's demons and succubi and djinn and zombies and mummies and wraiths and ghosts and elementals and pretty much everything else you've ever heard of. But I'm the only person on the show who isn't as normal as someone crazy enough to work in television gets. No lie.

Trust me, the aliens are far from pleasant. Or gods, whichever they might be.

[points and grins, though the expression remains a bit fake] I knew you'd run into something beyond the 'normal'. As for not being pleasant, that does not surprise me. 85% of the supernatural crap I meet wants to kill me and/or take over the world.

You'd be shocked Tony, really.

And I'm not surprised in the least.

I'm pretty tough to shock these days, but then, aliens, so who knows?

Aliens who might be gods, or something else entirely, don't be rude now.

[waves a hand] Vicki's tangled with a god before. Kind of a tiny, crappy, mostly-forgotten god, but whatever. Still a god. Two guesses who came out ahead and the first doesn't count.

I'd bet on the god just to be contrary, but I don't think a god ever counts as the underdog.

[sobers up a bit] It was a pretty near thing, but her nickname isn't Victory for nothin'. I'd bet that even if your aliens are some kind of gods, they're not God gods, if you know what I mean. Okay, so I'm not exactly the poster-boy for faith, I haven't been to Mass since I was a kid, but I'm still pretty sure the size of the 'g' involved does make a difference.

They had old names, mate. I don't know how much that means, but I'm not going to underestimate them until I find out for sure.

Well, sure. Underestimating is bad. What kind of names? Or is this the "probably shouldn't say them because it could get their attention" kind of thing?

More a "Go into too much detail and your coworkers will be rather miffed" affair.
