Americans call it soccer. It's a sport that requires teamwork to kick a little ball from one side of the field into the other team's net, which would be easy other than the part where you can't use your hands and the other team is dead set on stopping you with everything short of physical harm.

...Sometimes with physical harm even, but there's a penalty for that.

All that aside, it's one of the biggest sports in... well most of the world. Depending on how passionate the fans are, sometimes riots break out. If I'm remembering things right, there was a World Cup last year, which is only really notable since Spain won for the first time in... well they won for the first time.

The different nations compete against one another? Who judges the winners?

Every country's got their own teams, and they set up their own national team for the cup. The whole thing runs on a point system. Whoever has the most points at the end of the time limit, wins.

Who is typically favored to win? And how is Britain's team?

Germany, Italy and Brazil are in the lead, as for Britain...

Well we've got a win under our belt at least.

*may be grinning slightly that Spain won last and Italy is "in the lead"*

Is it played on a more local level as well?

Of course it is, tune in to any sports channel online and you'll find a match going on somewhere. Or at the very least you can catch old games on some of the video sites.

Are there teams in Camp?

None that I know of, which is odd considering...

Do you play?

A bit, why?

You're going to need to find more than a few people to play.

Only until he figured that out, then he'd be downright insufferable to anybody who wasn't his level.

He'd be interesting to play either against or with. Assuming he took to the sport, of course.

Let's see... A set of goals, a football and two teams of players.

How many people do you need? And how much space?

Roughly twenty four, with twelve on each side. As for how long it's got to be, you're looking at... god it's been some time, about ninety meters long and fifty wide?
