Higurashi aftermath

[IN OUR LAST EPISODE Shaun and Cesare had a little trip down to the labs, if by "trip" we mean "a magical adventure full of torture-filled antics". Needless to say there's one historian laid up in a hospital bed, more or less asleep and bandaged like you wouldn't believe.]

stair climbing and then he opens a door and there is a breath of fresh air on both their faces*

[Just closing his eyes and taking that all in, making a pleased sound before huddling closer to the source of warmth.]

*closes the door behind them and leans back against the wall, eyes closed. deep inhale, exhale.*

[Opens his eyes and then pauses, looking things over, wheels starting to turn.]

*having a moment, here*

*the most absentminded wing-petting*

[Those wings are almost imperceptibly twitching, his claws slightly kneading into Cesare's hand...]

*if he wasn't so absorbed in his own thoughts, this would be a lot more concerning! as it is, he frowns very slightly, trying to finish up that train of thought before he is distracted by whatever it is that's bothering him*

I thought it would be good if you got some fresh air. Was there anywhere else you wanted to go?

[That seems to snap him out of it and he settles down in cesare's hand]

A bit closer to the ground would be lovely, less chance of me falling and breaking a limb.

All right. Do you think you will be able to manage a bit of a walk? I want to return a book to the library.

Not as fast as you, sorry.

Then that's fine, I should pay the fine for that one book anyway.

Do you mean the one I gave you? It is not a library book.

No, I'd taken a book with me when I went to the cabin...

Oh. Which one?

One of the older ones... right, you know that leather-bound one that's about twice the normal size? Gilt lettering on the spine, now which one was it...

*justttt waiting for Shaun to figure it out. not going to put the effort in to remembering all those books in the cabin whose names he totally memorized*

[Finally says the name! He rambled off a few other ones that got burnt too...]
