moving away from the rats I GUESS I NEED TO GO FORWARD INSTEAD OF BACK ]

[They all seem to lunge at the same time, trying to get a bite in everywhere.]

[They seem to swarm, many going down but the rest intent on pulling Malik to the ground and dragging him towards the pit.]

[FIGHTING AGAINST THE PULL]

[Another good bite on the hand is their way of saying "lol no".

They rather quickly dredge him over the edge and down into the pit. The good news is that the liquid only is slightly painful instead of a agonizing burn, the bad news is that now there's rats and trying to swim through human remains to get any chance of reaching one of the side pipes]

[The rats nip at Malik in his attempt to get away, but once he's in the pipe, he's safe for some reason.

The pipe goes down a long way, just high enough to that nobody has to crawl. Every hundred feet or so there's a round grate on either the top or one of the sides, welded firmly closed, but at least showing the light outside. They're the only real illumination.]

[At first they appear to look out on nice places, like panoramas of Rome, England, even Jerusalem, apparently quite high up, despite it being the basement of a college]

[ ... taking a good look at Jerusalem before continuing on ]

[Something seems to distort, just slightly, out of the corner of one's eye as he walks away. With that a slow ache seems to start, the tips of the fingers feeling like they spent too much time in that mess of acid and god knows what. Problem is, it's the hand that isn't really attached anymore.]

[ placing his hand on the side as he walks... what the fuck i haven't felt that arm in a year........ ]

It only gets worse, crawling up the arm as time goes on, like some sort of insect under the skin]

[Up to the elbow now, branching out, the skin splitting...]

[The voice comes quietly, wet-sounding and pained.]

[the voice goes silent, but the feeling of him's still there. There's a lot he could say, why didn't you come back after? But he doesn't]
