I haven't put it in yet, but as far as I can tell there's no bacteria in it, other chemicals, and whatever minerals are the normal sort of thing you'd find from that sort of stone... which is a bit odd, actually.

I see. It is a pity that you cannot check for magic, or whatever you want to call it. Perhaps you should enlist the aid of one who is more familiar with that field.

I think if it had any magic than Fenris would have declared it his mortal enemy, so that water down there just might be drinkable.

Then it is oddly so, as you say. If you care to trust an apparent gift from this place so much, then by all means, drink it. Personally, I would rather not.

Not on your life, I was just suggesting it in case we need to hide underground when that little timer's finished.

I suppose that does change the circumstances enough to make it a possibility. Even a probable outcome, perhaps. I would rather not be forced down there, but perhaps to regroup or rest...

Do you have any more information other than what you wrote here?

Yeah, I don't have much access to anything scientific, but what I did have showed what you see about the water. No radiation by the way, that's another one, so I've no idea what was causing the glow if it wasn't the rock itself. As for the bats, I have an idea why they're able to pick up on thoughts.

Oh, I'm sure there is a wonderfully sinister connection.

Actually not as far as I can tell. Think about it, one of the main creatures wandering around those places are the zombies, or anything that's undead really, a festering mass of rotting flesh, and nary a thought in their head. They were just waiting for something sentient to come along so they could have a meal, that little emotional manipulation the runt pulled on you was just a bonus.

Regardless, there is something off about either the water or the area it covered. It is not natural for it to glow like that and regular water should not. The answer may be as simple as the fact that this place does not always make sense, but even that is not what I would call reassuring.

There's actually bio-luminescent plants and animals, but we'd need to head back there to make sure.

Are they common in North America? But I suppose that doesn't matter here.

But you don't see any traces of them in this sample. We should go back and check the pools themselves. I wish you had brought that up when we were there. It would have saved a trip.

Look mate, just because there's odd things in compost doesn't mean I put every lump of it from here under a microscope, it didn't occur to me at the time. But if you want we can head back tonight, just as long as we're prepared to fend the bats off.
