[IN OUR LAST EPISODE Shaun and Cesare had a little trip down to the labs, if by "trip" we mean "a magical adventure full of torture-filled antics". Needless to say there's one historian laid up in a hospital bed, more or less asleep and bandaged like you wouldn't believe.]

[AND SOMETIME LATER AGAIN]

*oh hey, this is different. and yet somehow surprisingly similar.

he's been wandering around in the building, looking in to various rooms and going down various halls, for the most part paying attention to the hand-drawn map in his hand, just too distracted by all the shiny new things.

eventually he does start to pay more attention to his instructions and makes his way to the proper door and reaches up to turn its handle, letting himself in quietly.*

[Sleeping shaun! A pile of books and a laptop beside his bed, surprisingly untouched.]

*climbing up into that chair! sitting in it without kicking his legs, even though they are dangling quite a bit from the ground. reading over the writing next to the map, then puts it on the seat beside him.

[Waking up slowly, turning over and-

[INTERNAL SCREAM- wait no, no, it's the tiny and not the warlord. Letting out a slightly shakey sigh of relief.]

Hello Cesare.

[maleborgia]

Can you get up? It's a nice day out!

Not really, no. I'm here for at least a few weeks.

Oh. *starting to get bored, gets up and goes to look at the medical equipment by the bed*

What does this do?

Let the doctors know if I'm in trouble.

Why are you here anyway, and what's that you've got with you?

I came to spend time with you. *goes to pick up the paper, although he doesn't hand it over*

How'd you know where I was, did Tony tell you?

I have a map.

*well, okay then. coming up to the side of the bed and handing that over. it's in simple language and very clearly in Cesare's handwriting if Shaun is familiar with it at all. if nothing else, it's obviously written in a cursive style from the time period. it is not dated and could have been written as long as a few days ago and is not signed. there is a simple but concise map explaining how to get from the consulate to the hospital and then how to find Shaun's room in it, along with instructions to basically check up on him and play nice. there is no written explanation given for either what happened to Shaun or why this letter appeared or who it is from.*

I'd be a little unerved if a note came out of nowhere and told me what to do

It didn't come out of nowhere. It was on the table.

Yes but you don't even know from who.

*hesitates. well, the letter did stress that he should be nice and the last several ones made no mention like the first ones did about keeping everything secret...*
